NRBQ — Americana Marvels Get Down To “Brass Tacks” on Midwest BEAT
THIS EPISODE OF “MIDWEST BEAT with TOM LOUNGES”
ORIGINALLY AIRED ON THURSDAY, JUNE 19, 2014
Musical Guest: TERRY ADAMS of NRBQ
Tonight’s musical guest for this SPECIAL EDITION of “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” is TERRY ADAMS, the founding member of the band NRBQ who has been keeping the venerable Americana musical group going strong for nearly four decades.
On this program Adams talks about the group’s musical journey since forming in Louisville, Kentucky back in 1966 to their current concert tour which brings them to Berwyn, Illinois on June 21st for a show at Fitzgerald’s Pub.
How just being alive is reason enough for making music and why despite so many membership changes over the years, the band just keeps on keeping on and creating consistently great music.
To underscore that fact, several songs are heard on this program from NRBQ’s new album “Brass Tacks.” You’ll also be treated to a couple of tunes the band recorded in the late 1960s from their second album, which teamed them up with the late, great rockabilly pioneer, CARL PERKINS. Adams has some good memories of recording with the legendary “Blue Suede” rocker on the “Boppin’ The Blues” album
