Not So Sweet Sixteen For Hoosiers

The Indiana Hoosiers lost 61-50 Thursday night to the 4th seeded Syracuse Orangemen in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen. It’s the 2nd straight year that Indiana has made it to the Sweet Sixteen, and failed to advance to the Elite Eight.

Facing a 2-3 defensive scheme that they were unfamiliar with, the Hoosiers struggled early and often. They committed 12 turnovers in the first half, equaling their season average, and 19 total in the game. The Orange defense stifled Indiana’s top players, limiting the undersized Hoosiers ability to make shots from the floor. The Hoosiers shot just 32% from the floor and only 20% from 3-point range.

Victor Oladipo led the way for IU, with 16 points, Christian Watford scored 13, and Cody Zellar added 10 points. They end their season with a 29-7 record.

Syracuse will advance to play Marquette on Saturday, in the Elite Eight.
