November 19, 2014 — Standing in the Indiana Senate chamber surrounded by fellow legislators and his family, Senator-elect Rick Niemeyer took the oath of office today, officially becoming the State Senator representing District 6. Niemeyer was sworn in by Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta Rush.

Niemeyer, one of eight new members of the Indiana Senate, will serve all of Benton and Newton counties and portions of Lake County. He fills the Senate seat previously held by State Sen. Sue Landske.

“I am very excited to take on the role of State Senator and advocate for the Hoosiers of Senate District 6,” Niemeyer said. “I will push for the same principles that I did in the House like restoring balance at the local level and reducing burdensome red tape on Indiana’s employers.”

Niemeyer previously served Hoosiers in Northwest Indiana as State Representative for House District 11 from 2012 to 2014. He has also served as West Creek Township Trustee and Assessor, Lake County Councilman.

He and his wife, Connie, reside in Lowell where they are members of St. John United Church of Christ.

Residents in Senate District 6 can contact Niemeyer by telephone at 1-800-382-9467, by email at Senator.Niemeyer@iga.in.gov or by mail at 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204. His virtual office can be found online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Niemeyer.
