The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) says South Shore train service is restored between South Bend and Michigan City today, after this week’s winter storm caused service suspension.

NICTD says South Shore regularly scheduled train service between South Bend and Michigan City, including
Hudson Lake, resumeD today with eastbound Train 9 in South Bend at 4:03 p.m. ET and westbound Train 20, departing South Bend at 4:53 p.m. ET.

NICTD apologized for inconvenience associated with this week’s weather-related problems, noting that the South Shore’s 800-356-2079 train service information line remains out of service, too, during a call center transition by the RTA Travel Center.

It advises that until further notice passengers can call 312-836-7000 although, “The RTA Travel Center is experiencing greater call volumes because of the weather and callers may encounter a busy signal.”

NICTD invites passengers to sign-up for its text and e-mail alert service available online at nictd.com to help passengers stay informed about service delays.
