New Years Eve Snow in Greater Chicago

Residents of northern Illinois might ring in the new year with heavy boots and snow shovels.
Forecasters say significant snowfall is expected in northern Illinois on New Year’s Eve, starting in the afternoon and continuing through tonight.
The National Weather Service predicts three to five inches of snow starting this afternoon in much of northern Illinois.
A winter weather advisory from this afternoon through tomorrow morning affects Rockford, DeKalb, Chicago and other cities north of U.S. Route 30.
Slick and snow-covered roads are expected to make travel hazardous. Visibility could be limited.
