NBA champs add a female coach

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The San Antonio Spurs are the second NBA team to have a female coach, hiring WNBA star Becky Hammon as an assistant to Gregg Popovich. She will retire from the San Antonio Silver Stars after this season to join the Spurs. The first female NBA assistant was Lisa Boyer, who served on John Lucas’ staff in Cleveland in 2001-02.
