Nadal moves on in Paris
PARIS (AP) — Men’s top-seed Rafael Nadal has advanced to the quarterfinals at the French Open for the fifth straight year. The win is his 32nd straight in the tournament, and that’s a record. Nadal’s win came against Dusan Lajovic of Serbia 6-1, 6-2, 6-1. Nadal is an eight-time French Open champion with a 63-1 record on the red clay in Paris. His only loss came in the fourth round in 2009, when he was a four-time defending champion for the first time.
Nadal will face David Ferrer, the fifth-seed, in the quarterfinals as he advanced with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 win over South African Kevin Anderson. Nadal and Ferrer met in the French Open final last year with Nadal coming out on top.
