MVP to be named
NEW YORK (AP) — The Dodgers Clayton Kershaw will be trying to add the NL MVP award to the Cy Young Award he captured yesterday. The left-hander will be attempting to become the first pitcher to haul in both honors in the same season since Bob Gibson did it in 1968. The other finalist for the MVP award that will be announced tonight are Pittsburgh’s Andrew McCutcheon, who won it last year, and Florida’s Giancarlo Stanton
The American League Most Valuable Player will also be named tonight. In the hunt are Cleveland outfielder Michael Brantley, Detroit designated hitter Victor Martinez and Angels outfielder Mike Trout. He’s finished second to the Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera in each of the last two votes.
