Munster celebrates 18th annual Night Out Against Crime
Munster residents will be joining those in Gary, East Chicago and numerous region cities celebrating the National Night Out Against Crime. This is the town’s 18th annual celebration of the nationwide event geared toward getting residents involved in crime prevention measures and police-community partnerships. Officials say National Night Out Against Crime also demonstrates to criminals that residents are united in deterring criminal activity in their neighborhoods.
The Munster Police Department and Choice Community Council invites residents to a planned celebration Tuesday, August 6th from 5 to 9 pm at the Munster Community Pool. Officials say they have planned both educational and entertaining events to draw people together in the spirit of creating neighborhood partnerships against crime. This year’s event will include free swimming for Munster residents, door prizes, children’s games, and free child identification cards. The event will also include a police helicopter landing and K-9 demonstration, a magic show, a self-defense demonstration, a S.W.A.T. Team exhibit, visits by Ronald McDonald and Rusty the Railcat and much more. All residents are encouraged to turn on their porch lights in support of the event.
