Motorist Flies Off I-65 Into Trees

Lake County–A Demotte, Indiana woman was injured Tuesday morning when she lost control of her car on I-65 and it went airborne into some trees.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Dennis Simcoe revealed that, at approximately 7:58 a.m., a 2008 Mazda driven by Bridget Birzek, 44, of Demotte was north bound on I-65 when she lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons. The roadway in this area was not receiving snow and was dry.
The Mazda went off the roadway, hit a ditch and went airborne into the trees. Birzek who was wearing her seat belt was taken to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point with non-life threatening injuries. The Mazda was a total loss.
