MIDWEST BEAT TAKES A RIDE WITH MITCH RYDER: GODFATHER OF DETROIT ROCK ‘N” SOUL

Share Tweet Email

This edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with TOM LOUNGES” originally broadcast on September 24

If you grew up rockin’ and rollin’ in the 1960s then you’ll wanna check out this installment of Lounges’ popular weekly program with musical guest MITCH RYDER, a Detroit legend and the voice behind a string of TOP 20 hits of that era like “DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS,” “JENNY TAKE A RIDE” and “SOCK IT TO ME.”

Ryder has never stopped recording and performing.   Just days after this show was broadcast, Ryder rocked the house at Star Plaza Theatre on Friday, September 27th, along with Paul Revere & The Raiders.

On this program, listeners heard Ryder talk about his five decades in rock ‘n’ roll along with a few of Ryder’s timeless 60s hits, and a trio of newer tracks from Ryder’s 2012 album “THE PROMISE.”   Also included here is a forgotten MTV gem from 1983, when Ryder teamed up in the studio with Indiana’s own JOHN MELLENCAMP.

He didn’t mention his verson of “Rock and Roll”, did he? I was going to Valpo when the Detroit lp came out. I turned a lot of people on to it.
