“Reggae Music To Warm A Cold Winter’s Night”
This first show of 2017 features a live in-studio visit from Northwest Indiana’s blues and reggae guitar great, Donald Kinsey (of Kinsey Report fame) who will perform live reggae tunes and talk about his personal history of making records and touring with musical icons Bob Marley and the journey that took him to that point. A journey that includes growing up in Gary, Indiana, a deep family roots, making music with his father and brothers, touring and recording with blues legend Albert King, and the short run success and shooting star experience of his power trio rock band, White Lightning.

Guest: Author CHRISTY CARPENTER & BECKY HOLLOWAY
Northwest Indiana educator turned author CHRISTY CARPENTER will be the featured guest on this week’s program to talk about her recently released book — “FOURTITUDE: 1…2…3…4 CANCERS CHOSE MY SON” — an inspiring story from a first time author with help from author BECKY HOLLOWAY, adapted from Carpenter’s personal journals she kept during her long journey through her son Andy’s battle with multiple cancers.

“Reggae Music To Warm A Cold Winter’s Night”
The first show of 2017 aired on January 3rd and spotlighted Northwest Indiana’s blues and reggae guitar great, Donald Kinsey‘s career evolution from the streets of Gary, to life on the road with a blues legend, to being a band leader, to the paradox of violence and spirituality experienced on the island of Jamaica.
We left off in PART ONE of the Donald Kinsey career retrospective just as Donald’s time as a member of BOB MARLEY‘s backing group, THE WAILERS, was ending following a horrific assassination attempt the concert that followed.
THIS WEEK — the journey of this hometown musical icon continues as PART TWO picks up with a phone call to Donald from reggae music icon PETER TOSH. This week includes Donald talking about his work with Tosh, touring with The Rolling Stones, dancing at Mick Jagger‘s birthday party, and his current return to live performing with THE WAILERS, as well as his playing gigs with Peter’s son, ANDREW TOSH. Kinsey will also reflect a bit on his playing as part of an All-Star reggae group at the opening day festivities of the Peter Tosh Memorial Museum in Kingston, Jamaica.

Guest: THE KERR FAMILY of Blue Moon Vintage Market
The guest for this week’s edition of “A Look At The Arts with Tom Lounges” will be a Northwest Indiana family — Roger, Vicki and Jen Kerr — who took their collective hobby of restoring old furniture and turned it into a successful family business — Blue Moon Vintage Market — located just over the state line in the popular arts community of Three Oaks, Michigan. Through their creative methods of restoration means, including the recently popular art of chalk painting, the Kerrs have not only found popularity with the local folks, but also has drawn the attention of Danielle Colby from the television show, “American Pickers,” who has come to work with the region family. Their journey from hobby to business, the niche they have found, and their connection to Colby will all be discussed on this afternoon’s program.

Guest: BRITISH MUSIC LEGEND PETER ASHER — Then& Now
On this edition of the program, British rock icon of the 1960s, PETER ASHER, one half of the famous folk/pop duo Peter & Gordon (“Lady Godiva,” “A World Without Love,” etc. ) will guest live on the program to discuss not only the past and the British Invasion era, but also his latest projects, including his producing the original cast recording for the Broadway production of “Bright Star,” featuring Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. Asher is currently on a solo tour —“Peter Asher: A Musical Memoir of the 60s and Beyond” — which brings him to The Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, MI on January 27th.

FRIDAY, JAN. 20 — 1:00pm – “A LOOK AT THE ARTS”
Guest: TRE’ MANCHESTER — Independent Filmmaker
Northwest Indiana filmmaker TRE’ MANCHESTER will be the featured guest on this week’s program to talk about the making of his film drama, “The Things We’ve Seen,” and the first “public screening” on January 28th of the completed project which began filming regionally in the summer of 2015. Manchester appeared on this program in Spring of 2015 to first talk about the project, a drama set in a small American town, which at that time was still in pre-production. Recent private screenings have been very favorable and Manchester is now ready to release his film to the movie-loving public.
TUESDAY, JAN. 24 — 7:00: “MIDWEST BEAT”
Guest: JUSTIN HAYWARD of The Moody Blues
On this edition of the program, British rocker JUSTIN HAYWARD — singer, songwriter and guitarist of THE MOODY BLUES — chats with “Midwest BEAT” host Tom Lounges about his newest solo music collection, “All The Way.” Released in late 2016, the album is a “best of…” collection from past albums with a few songs never before released added to the mix.
