Merrillville Living Center Closing Part of Facility

Share Tweet Email

September 6, 2013 — A Merrillville health care center plans to eliminate 121 jobs by November 4.

Capital Senior Living ILM-B, Inc. operates Towne Centre Health Care, and it issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice, also known as a WARN Notice, this week, informing the Indiana Department of Workforce Development of its planned shutdown of part of its care facility on November 4, 2013.

Though Capital Senior Living says the center’s Assisted Living and Independent Living facilities at Towne Center will remain open, it expects the Skilled Nursing Facility closure to be permanent. Its layoffs include 28 nurses and 55 certified nursing aides, and “that the affected employees are not represented by any union.”

Capital says in its letter that it directly informed affected employees Wednesday.  It describes its Skilled Nursing Facility as a 120-bed comprehensive care facility licensed by the State of Indiana, at 7250 Arthur Boulevard.
