COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — It’s time for Maryland football team to find out how it stacks up against Big Ten competition.

The Terrapins make their Big Ten debut Saturday at Indiana, and they’re eager to make a good first impression.

Linebacker L.A. Goree says, “As a team we want to step up and prove we belong in this league.”

Maryland was a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference before announcing in November 2012 that it was leaving for the Big Ten. The move became official in July.

Coach Randy Edsall says Saturday’s game is “significant and historic.” The last time Maryland faced the Hoosiers was in 1935.

The Terps bring a 3-1 record into the game. Indiana is 2-1 after defeating Top 25 foe Missouri on the road last week.
