Marion’s Blackmon Decommits From IU
Marion High School senior basketball star James Blackmon Jr. opened up his recruitment Thursday, saying he wanted to compare Indiana University, where he had previously committed, with other schools. The 6-3 Blackmon, who is ranked No. 33 in the 2014 class by Rivals.com, informed IU coach Tom Crean of his decision Thursday morning. Blackmon said he will still consider Indiana, though it is rare for a player to commit to the same school twice. He committed to the Hoosiers three years ago, before his freshman year at Fort Wayne Bishop Luers. Indianapolis Tech’s 6-10 Trey Lyles committed to IU around the same time but pulled back his pledge last August and is now considering Butler, Florida, Kentucky and Louisville.
