Lyles, Jennings top Indiana AP all-state team
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Tech’s Trey Lyles and Logansport’s Whitney Jennings are the top vote-getters on The Associated Press’ 2014 all-state boys and girls basketball teams.
Lyles won the Mr. Basketball award Tuesday after leading Tech to the Class 4A state title — the first for an Indianapolis Public School since 1980 and the first ever for Tech. Lyles will play at Kentucky next season.
He was joined on the first team by Trevon Bluiett of Indianapolis Park Tudor and James Blackmon Jr. of Marion, who were second and third in Mr. Basketball voting.
Jennings was named Miss Basketball after leading the state in scoring with 32.0 points. The 5-foot-5 guard, who is headed to Iowa, was joined on the first team by Miss Basketball runner-up Maura Muensterman of Evansville Mater Dei.
