Luhr County Park Expands With Land Purchase
The LaPorte County Parks Foundation’s completed the purchase of a 15-acre addition to Luhr County Park. Money came from the Bicentennial Nature Trust and the Unity Foundation of LaPorte County.
The addition is mostly oak- and hickory-forested wetlands and an area targeted for prairie restoration. Park Superintendent Tim Morgan says Luhr Park is one of 35 projects funded from $35 million raised by Indiana’s 2016 Bicentennial Nature Trust.
Luhr Park covers 89 acres just south of LaPorte and includes upland forest, wetlands, prairie paved trails and a stocked fishing pond.
