October 18, 2013 — It’s official:  next Friday night’s Lowell High School – Gary West Leadership Academy football playoff game will be played on East Chicago Central High School’s field.

The Gary Community School Board last night approved the decision to play the game at another location, because the Indiana High School Athletics Association ruled that the West Side field was deemed not suitable for a sectional game.

The field at West Side Leadership Academy in Gary is the subject of a complaint filed with the IHSAA.

According to the anonymous complaint the field might not be in suitable condition for next week’s sectional game against the Lowell Red Devils.  Previous West Side home games this season have been interrupted or moved to other fields because of problems with lighting, inaccurate time keeping and officiating.

IHSAA Assistant Commissioner Robert Faukens went to Gary this week to meet with school officials before making the ruling.
