Beat the Devil (1953) Humphrey Bogart stars as one of five disreputable adventurers who are trying to get a vast fortune of uranium out of East Africa. Gina Lollobrigida and Peter Lorre co-star in this film directed by Bogart’s friend John Huston.

October 7 Orson Welles Double Feature starting at 11:00am The Stranger (1946) A respectable professor in a small Connecticut town (Orson Welles) hides a secret from the war. When an investigator (Edward G. Robinson) starts looking into his past, he will need his own wife to help him escape.

TRIVIA NUGGET: Though not as well remembered as some of Orson Welles’s more original projects, The Stranger was the only film directed by Welles to show a profit in its original release.
