Local Families Make the Best of Cold Weather

While area drivers are navigating slippery roads, some people are navigating a snowy hill. Local sledders say the Lake County Fairgrounds hill in Crown Point was covered with just the right amount of snow making it a perfect day for sledding.
Saran Black says he has been coming to the hill for ten years, for “the speed and the fact that I get to spend time with my friends and family.”
Vanessa Anaya says her papa has taken her and her siblings to the hills for years, “I’m having a lot of fun because I’m with my family and the slopes are really deep.”
That seems to be the attitude of everyone out on the hill, braving the cold this afternoon. They say they are enjoying hanging out with their brothers, sisters, moms and dads.
Vanessa Anaya’s father, Joseph Anaya, says, “It’s been a great day so far, like I said, we love the snow. It’s a great opportunity to get out there and spend time with the family.”
Another father, Bryan Bodamer, agrees, “Just spending time with the kids, it doesn’t happen as often as I’d like it to, up and down the hills and getting a little fresh air and exercising even though it’s bone chilling cold.”
Joseph Anaya says, “When I woke up this morning I saw all of the snow on the street, and I thought to myself, ‘Man, it’s great I took the day off,’ because all of the confusion of the snow on the roads it would have definitely been a rough day.”
These kids say today’s sledding was a great way to stay warm in frigid temperatures.
