Local Candlelight Ceremonies For Child Abuse Awareness, Prevention
Governor Mike Pence will lead events on Tuesday, April 16th, marking Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month in Indiana. The Indiana Department of Child Services says Pence will kick off the start of a statewide candlelight ceremony on the Statehouse lawn. The department says it will host candlelight ceremonies across the state that day, beginning at 7 p.m. local time.
The local candlelight ceremonies that night will be held at: Avalon Manor in Merrillville… Porter County Courthouse in Valparaiso… Millenium Park in Michigan City… the Newton County DCS Office in Morocco… and on the Jasper County Courthouse lawn in Rensselaer.
DCS offices statewide will join local officials, child advocates, and others to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect.
