November 4, 2013 — Gary police say legs were “sticking out of the trunk” of a burned car discovered by one of its officers today.

Gary Police say Chief Wade Ingram is going to have G.R.I.T. help identify the body to see if it is related to  recent midtown homicides.

It would be the City’s 48th murder of the year, discovered at approximately 11:21 a.m. by an officer patrolling the area of 2700 Maryland Street.  Police Corporal Gabrielle King says that’s where the officer located a burned out vehicle with legs sticking out of the trunk.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office says the victim is a black man who sustained multiple stab wounds.

King says Gary Police Sergeant Dan Callahan is investigating this case, available at 545-4952.
