LaPorte County Man Struck By Amtrak Train
August 19, 2013 — A 22-year-old Michiana Shores man who survived being hit by a high-speed train is still at a South Bend hospital, but his condition is improving.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department says Darryle See was walking on the train tracks near his home listening to music on headphones when he was hit by a fast-moving Amtrak passenger train. Major John Boyd said the angle of the train’s nose moving at 110 miles an hour might have thrown him clear of the tracks.
See is listed in serious condition with a broken pelvis and non-life-threatening neck injuries.
