August 27, 2013 — The Gary/Chicago International Airport is losing its interim director.

Airport administration announced today that Steven Landry has resigned his position.  It says his resignation takes effective September 23, 2013.

The announcement says he tendered the resignation yesterday—the same day as the deadline for public-private partnership proposals to develop the airport.  The announcement says he cited “personal reasons” as the basis for his resignation.  Landry joined the staff of the airport in January 2007.

“I certainly appreciate the leadership and knowledge that Steve provided during his tenure as Interim Director of the Gary/Chicago International Airport,” said Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson.  “We wish him well as he moves on to new opportunities.”

Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority President Nathanial T. Williams said, “We sincerely thank Steve for his hard work and dedication since joining the airport staff more than six years ago.  We also greatly appreciate Steve’s commitment to assist in the transition of new Airport Authority board members in September.  Steve’s expertise has been invaluable and his diligent leadership has helped the Gary/Chicago International Airport accomplish great things.”

Airport Authority Vice Chair Pastor Marion J. Johnson, Jr., also praised Landry for his service, “Steve is a humble man who gave his all to the job.  He set an excellent example of teamwork at the airport to inspire and lead a dedicated staff to accomplish great things.”
