Lakeshore Focus – 843 – Negro Ball League

Share Tweet Email

Prior to the desegregation of the United States, black people and other minorities were not accepted into sports leagues. Because of this, they formed their own professional baseball teams, sometimes called the Negro Major Leagues. Seven successful leagues began in 1920 and continued to play through the 1950’s when baseball was desegregated. Today we’re joined by two former players, Walt Owens and Tom Neff. Episode #843. Aired 12/5/14
