Lake County Adds New Early Voting Centers
March 31, 2014 —
The Lake County Elections and Voter Registration Board is getting ready to open early-voting sites, ahead of the May 6th primary elections. Director Michelle Fajman says they open around the county on April 8th.
There are early voting sites in Gary, Munster, Highland and Lowell. That is addition to the Elections and Voter Registration Office in Crown Point and satellite locations in East Chicago, Hammond and the towns of St. John and Winfield. The final day of early voting will be May 5th.
Munster Town Hall proved to be a successful venue during last year’s school referendum voting, and the Lowell-area site is in response to complaints from south Lake County residents who said they travel the farthest to cast an early ballot.
Early voting hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, through May 2nd at the Crown Point location, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the eight other locations.
Weekend early voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday April 26th and Saturday May 3rd in Crown Point, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on those days at the other locations.
