NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Knicks have fired coach Mike Woodson. The New Yorkers under-performed this season, winning just 37 games against 45 defeats and not qualifying for the playoffs. They finished third in the Atlantic Division, 11 games back of the Toronto Raptors. The firing of Woodson is the first official move under recently hired president Phil Jackson.

Jackson has won an NBA-record 11 championships as a coach. He has repeatedly said he’s not interested in returning to the bench, so he will have to hire someone before he turns his attention to the roster.
