KICKIN’ IT UP WITH THE KINSEYS LIVE ON THE LAKESHORE
This Edition of “Midwest BEAT with Tom Loungees originally aired on Tuesday, July 15th.
IN-STUDIO GUESTS: THE KINSEY REPORT – Donald Kinsey, Ralph Kinsey & Ken Kinsey
It was the evening before they shared the stage with reggae music great Jimmy Cliff at Hammond’s Festival of the Lakes, that the founding members of The Kinsey Report paid a visit to the Lakeshore Public Radio studio to guest on “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges.”
DONALD KINSEY – though well known for his work with THE KINSEY REPORT blues group – along with his brothers RALPH and KENNY – also spent time as a former member of THE WAILERS, who once backed reggae legend BOB MARLEY. and was a member of the former Wailer PETER TOSH’s reggae band.
On this program, Donald shared memories both of those Jamaican music legends, including one where gun men surrounded the Wailers’ rehearsal house in Kingston and opened fire in an attempt to assassinate Bob Marley. Of course, KEN and RALPH KINSEY joined in sharing stories about their family music history, their iconic bluesman father Big Daddy Kinsey, and the songs heard on the brand new Kinsey Report album “Standing (I’ll Be…).”
Along performing a great in studio acoustic version of Bob Marley’s “Jammin’,” a trio of new Kinsey Report studio recordings from that latest release are heard on this broadcast.
