February 20, 2014 — A Kentucky bearings and power transmission components company is choosing Valparaiso in its consolidation and expansion efforts.

Emerson Power Transmission Corporation said it will invest close to 2-million dollars to renovate and equip its engineering research and development laboratory in Valparaiso. The company operates an additional facility in Valparaiso along with one in Monticello.  The expansion in Porter County will add up to seven new jobs by 2014.

Vice President for Engineering Jim Porter says the new engineering lab in Valparaiso will allow them to consolidate several labs throughout the United States.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Emerson Power Transmission Corporation up to 70-thousand dollars in performance-based conditional tax credits, based on the company’s job creation plans.
