August 19, 2013 — Indiana’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remained at 8.4-percent in July, which the Indiana Department of Workforce Development notes is in stark contrast to what it called “ongoing sizable job growth.”

Workforce Development Commissioner Scott Sanders says Indiana’s private sector experienced significant growth, as July’s job gains totaled 5,900.

The July preliminary unemployment rates for Northwest Indiana:

Lake County                   10.1-percent

LaPorte County              9.9-percent

Newton County              9.3-percent

Jasper County                8.8-percent

Porter County                 8.2-percent
