Jets, Redskins do quarterback shuffle
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Jets have announced that Geno Smith will get the start at quarterback over Michael Vick for the game against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.
The team says coach Rex Ryan met with both quarterbacks and informed them of the decision.
Vick had started the Jets’ last three games, but struggled against Buffalo before being replaced by Smith in the loss in Detroit.
Smith last started on Oct. 26 in a loss to the Bills in which he threw interceptions on three consecutive possessions and was benched.
The Redskins plan to start Colt McCoy over Robert Griffin III on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, according to a person familiar with the decision.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because coach Jay Gruden had yet to announce the news to his team.
The Redskins are 0-3 since Griffin returned from an ankle injury and have scored only one touchdown in each of the last two games. Griffin is 4-14 as a starter since the start of the 2013 season and has struggled in an attempt to transform into a traditional pocket-passer.
