Ivy Tech, GPTC Create New Student Discount Ride Plan

Share Tweet Email

September 12, 2014 — Ivy Tech Community College Northwest and Gary Public Transportation Corporation are offering Ivy Tech students a new, discounted bus pass plan starting Monday.

Prior to the partnership, students paid $35 per month for bus passes.  The new arrangement enables Ivy Tech students to purchase a bus pass for only $10 per month.

Gary campus president Marlon Mitchell says as they expand its learning opportunities to south Lake County, they want to make sure students can connect to all of its locations

GPTC provides two bus lines to the Gary campus (Routes 6 and 21), and one bus line to the  East Chicago campus (Route 12).  Two future satellite campuses — at a new 35th Avenue Ivy Tech / I-U Northwest building, and at Ameriplex in Merrillville – will both be accessible by GPTC’s Broadway service (Routes 17 and 18).
