September 13, 2013 — LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department says it has harvested more than 80 marijuana plants, valued at more than $1000 each.

It says that yesterday the La Porte County Metro Operations Unit and the Indiana State Police Marijuana Eradication Team found two marijuana outdoor grow operations and seized eighty-six plants.

The Department’s approximate value of the marijuana from each plant at between $1,000 and $1,500.

The Sheriff’s Department says it took 73 marijuana plans from a grow operation in the 9800 West block of County Road 300 North in Coolspring Township, seizing another 13 plan from an operation in the 3600 block of Brookside Drive in Long Beach.  It says both sites were cultivated and not naturally occurring, “discovered as a result of an Indiana State Police fly-over and these investigations are on-going.”
