Inmate Population Crowding Jail, Crowding Budget

September 16, 2013 — This week, Porter County is in the process of determining next year’s budget, and one item receiving close attention is the Sheriff’s Department.

Overcrowding has been an issue at the Porter County Jail for some time, and Sheriff Dave Lain says he would like to open a section of the jail which is currently unused, but that move would require additional staff.
