INDOT Reopens State Road 2

June 14, 2013 — After storm-damaged power lines caused a state road closure, Indiana’s Department of Transportation says State Road 2 is open again. INDOT said today it reopened SR 2 near Hebron when crews cleared downed power lines in southeast Lake County.

INDOT says the reopening came much sooner than expected for State Road 2 between U.S. 231 and I-65 after Wednesday night storms knocked down power line towers and blocked the roadway. Though NIPSCO crews estimated the towers could have taken three days to clear, work progressed “faster than expected, to the benefit of Friday morning commuters in the area.”
