Indiana’s Mr. Football to enroll early at Purdue
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Running back Markell Jones is one of four Purdue recruits expected to enroll early at the school.
Jones was a runaway winner in Indiana’s Mr. Football balloting last week. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound senior rushed for 290 yards or more six times last season at Columbus East and finished second in state history with 7,793 career yards.
Coach Darrell Hazell says receiver Anthony Mahoungou, long snapper Ben Makowski and quarterback Elijah Sindelar also will enroll at the university in January, making them eligible for the Boilermakers’ offseason activities.
Mahoungou, who is from Paris, played at West Hills Community College in California last season. Makowski played at Mishawaka Penn. Sindelar played for Caldwell County High School and was Kentucky’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
Hazell announced the early enrollment players on Wednesday.
