Indianapolis Native On Pole For 500

The 33 car field for Sunday’s 97th running of the Indianapolis 500 is set, with a hometown driver on the pole. Indianapolis owner/driver Ed Carpenter recorded a four-lap average of 228.782 mph Saturday in his #20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet to claim the fastest qualifying time and pole position for Sunday’s 500 mile race.

Two drivers from the Andretti Autosport team, the impressive Colombian rookie Carlos Munoz ¬†and Marco Andretti, were the next fastest drivers, claiming the other two spots on the front row. Team Penske’s fastest qualifier, rookie A.J. Allmendinger, is in the fifth spot in the middle of the second row.

The entire 33 car field was set on Sunday.
