Indiana Unemployment Rate Remains Steady At 8.7%

Indiana’s unemployment rate remained unchanged in March.  The Department of Workforce Development reports 8.7 percent of Hoosiers were out of work last month.  LaPorte and Starke Counties had the highest rate in Northwest Indiana at 11.6 percent.  Those counties are tied for the fifth highest rates in the state.  They’re followed by Newton County at eleven percent.  Lake County had a rate of 10.8 percent.  Jasper County also was above ten percent at 10.1.  Porter County’s rate was 8.7 percent.  Pulaski county had one of the lowest rates in the state at 7.6 percent.
