Share Tweet Email

A 48-year-old Hazel Crest, Ill., man was sentenced to 45 years in prison last week for attempted murder. David Jay Harman was convicted earlier this year by a Lake Superior Court jury for a knife attack on J.R. Jenkins in May 2011.  Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter said evidence showed that 77-year-old Jenkins was punched, kicked and had his throat slashed during Harman’s attack.  Jenkins was hospitalized for nearly two months. The jury returned a verdict in less than two hours.
