Illiana Decision Will Come Down To Final Vote

Share Tweet Email

December 3, 2013

Tuesday morning the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Committee’s Transportation policy committee voted 18 to 8 to approve the Illiana Expressway. That sets up a showdown for the potential $1.3 billion project, before the full NIRPC Board next week. Illinois has already approved the project, which has had its share of controversy since being proposed in 2010. Regionally Speaking Host Steve Walsh talks to several of the key players through the hour.

We’ll also look at  the plea agreement in the public corruption case of Lake County Surveyor George VanTil with times political reporter Bill Dolan.

Guests include:

Ty Warner, NIRPC executive director

Kevin Garcia, NIRPC author of social justice report

Jim Pinkerton, INDOT spokesman

Craig Early, Lowell Town Council

Dewey Pearman, Northwest Indiana Forum
