December 11, 2013

Host Steve Walsh spends the hour on the Illiana Expressway, ahead of Thursday’s  vote before the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission.

This is it. Tomorrow morning is the last major vote on the project, which has already been approved in Illinois.  The $1.3 billion project  is expected to provide hundreds on construction jobs. It’s also raised concerns over suburban sprawl and questions have also been raised about the impact on the communities in its path.

We also took callers throughout the show in an emotional hour of Regionally Speaking.

Guests include:

Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott

Lake County Commissioner Gerry Scheub

Keith Benman Times of Northwest Indiana

Lowell Town Council VP Craig Early

Dave Ellis Hoosier Sierra Club

Hobart Mayor Brian Snedecor

Lake County Councilman Eldon Strong

Anthony Sindone, economist and lecturer Purdue University North Central

Ed Mahern,  spokesman for the Operating Engineers
