LAFAYETTE — A “Rail Summit” to be held this weekend in downtown Lafayette is focusing on the nation’s only public-private partnership currently running an intercity passenger rail service: the “Hoosier State Line,” funded by INDOT and some communities on the route, assisted by Amtrak and with daily operation by Iowa Pacific.

Phil Streby of the Indiana Passenger Rail Alliance, one of the groups in charge of the forum, was on “Regionally Speaking” on Wednesday to talk about the all-day event, free and open to the public.

The President of Iowa Pacific. Ed Ellis, is scheduled to speak, along with representatives from INDOT and the Passenger Rail Alliance’s president Steve Coxhead.   Here’s the complete conversation.
