Healthcare Enrollments Underway, New Questions
December 4, 2013 — While the federal government works to make its healthcare website more accessible, Hoosiers are still left with questions about the new insurance changes.
Representatives from MDwise spoke in LaPorte today about the options available to Hoosiers on the insurance marketplace. As the federal website gradually becomes available for enrollment MDwise consultant Kim Eldridge wants residents to know that some doctors and hospitals will only accept plans from certain providers.
For example, Eldridge says IU Health Systems and Franciscan Alliance Health will only offer benefits through the MDwise program. Hoosiers enrolled in marketplace plans not recognized by their doctor may end up paying full price for medical care. Eldridge says understanding the benefits available is the first step to finding the right plan.
Enrollment is available through March 31. The website healthcare.gov is available, however Eldridge recommends calling to enroll over the phone for quicker access.
