This program originally aired on TUESDAY, JANUARY 7th (with Repeat Broadcast 12am Jan. 10th)

In-Studio – OMAR FARAG.

Call-In Guests – DJ FONTANA (Elvis’ original drummer)  and ESTELLE BROWN (of The Sweet Inspirations – Elvis’ backing vocal group)

On January 8, 1935, the man who would forever change the face of popular music – ELVIS PRESLEY – the King of Rock ‘N Roll was born in Tupelo, Mississippi.   As a salute to Elvis in celebration of what would have been his 79th birthday, “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” shone a spotlight on Elvis — the man and the music — for this program.

Midwest concert promoter Omar Farag was in-studio guest and call in guests were Elvis’ original ‘50s and ‘60s drummer and Rock And Roll Hall of Famer, DJ FONTANA (featured in several Elvis movies and with Presley on the landmark “1968 Comeback Special”) and ESTELLE BROWN, one of Presley’s co-founder of Presley’s backing vocal group (1969-1977) The Sweet Inspirations.   Both knew Presley during different periods of his life and career and both share stories and memories of the man and their time with him.

There are plenty of Elvis tunes slipped in as well — “All Shook Up,” “Suspicious Minds,” “In The Ghetto,” and others.
