Hammond’s Dillinger Museum Part of Smithsonian’s Museum Day
September 17, 2013 — The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority says the John Dillinger Museum, inside the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond, will participate in Smithsonian magazine’s ninth annual Museum Day Live! event.
Free admission is available to visitors with a Museum Day Live! ticket on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The museum presents an interactive, historical account of the life and times of John Dillinger and other gangsters of the 1930s Depression era. Visitors also learn about the development of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and advancements in crime fighting technology.
Tickets for Museum Day Live! are available online at www.smithsonian.com/museumday. The SSCVA says the Indiana Welcome Center will not limit the amount of tickets used per household. Visitors who are unable to print the online Museum Day Live! ticket will still be granted free admission.
The John Dillinger Museum is open daily 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Indiana Welcome Center’s address is at 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond, Indiana. More information about the Museum and free museum day is available at 219-989-7770.
