Hammond Police Red Tagging Cars Before Towing Them
January 8, 2014 by Jerry Howard
Hammond’s Police Chief says that with temperatures returning above zero, and “a favorable forecast for the remainder of the week, I would like to remind residents to shovel out those snowbound vehicles parked on the street.”
Chief Brian Miller says Hammond’s streets are narrow with the large piles of snow, and police want to assist the Hammond Public Works Department in its efforts to clear snow from the streets. He says Hammond police are “red tagging” cars today and tomorrow and will start towing cars 72 hours later.
Miller says, “We feel that’s more than enough time to clear off the cars and get them started.”
He says many residents had their cars pushed out of snow banks by Hammond officers already.
