Hammond Police Part of Region STOP Team
August 28, 2013 — The City of Hammond is part of a new police initiative designed to target violent and property crimes where they occur most.
The Region STOP Team will consist of full-time police officers from East Chicago, Gary, Hammond and Lake County Sheriff’s Police. In addition nine part-time members will come from other region communities. The Region STOP Team will take an aggressive patrol approach and facilitate intelligence sharing among the region’s law enforcement community.

Police from Crown Point, Dyer, Griffith, Highland, Munster, Schererville, Whiting and Indiana University Northwest and Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, or NICT-D, will also be involved.
