January 23, 2015 — Lakeshore Public Media staff —  A 31-year-old Hammond man faces criminal charges for robbing an 84 year old man at the Hammond South Shore Station last June.

NICTD Police Chief Robert Byrd says people who saw media video of the holdup identified the suspect as Darryl Leigh Kilgore.  Witnesses to the robbery identified Kilgore from a police photo line-up of possible suspects.

The victim had just purchased a newspaper from inside the train station and was walking on the train boarding platform when he was physically assaulted.   Police have not yet arrested Kilgore, as of 10 :00 a.m. Friday.
