Grandson and former Lake prosecutor reflect on Paula Cooper murder case
In May 1985, 15 year old Paula Cooper was one of four teenagers to brutally murder the elderly woman in her Gary, Indiana home. She became the youngest person on death row in the US, until the Indiana Supreme Court commuted her sentence. Released at 43 years old June 17, 2013, Regionally Speaking Host talks to former Lake County Prosecutor Jack Crawford and Bill Pelke, grandson of the victim, Ruth Pelke, and now an anti-death penalty advocate, about Cooper’s release.
