Governor Looks Toward Outside Review of IEDC
July 17, 2013 — Governor Pence says he won‘t prejudge the results of a review he‘s ordered of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Here is Network Indiana’s Statehouse reporter Eric Berman with the story…
Pence says his administration is talking with a couple of outside firms to see who‘s available to review conflict-of-interest allegations involving an IEDC contractor — he expects to settle on one this week. Pence ordered the review a day after the Indianapolis “Star” reported the company hired to administer the state‘s 21st Century Fund for high-tech startups awarded 800-thousand dollars to companies run by its founder and his son. The company notes it‘s a private firm, and not subject to the stricter ethics rules state agencies must follow.
Pence vows he‘ll hold all contractors to the highest standards, but says he‘ll wait to see the results of the audit before deciding whether any changes are needed in how the IEDC operates.
